You may have a well-loved family heirloom that needs updating, a favourite armchair that has seen better days, or you may have spotted a bargain that doesn’t quite fit your style.
I can help you to create a beautiful bespoke piece of furniture which uniquely reflects you and your home and will last comfortably for many more years to come.
Upholstery is a cost-effective and environmentally friendly way to bring any piece of furniture back to life.
What can be upholstered?
If it can be covered in fabric, I can upholster it! From sofas to stools, chaises to chairs, cushions of all shapes and sizes. Window seats, footstools, ottomans and pouffes, boxes, headboards and bolsters.
All of these can be re-upholstered with a simple refresh of the fabric or stripping back to the frame for a more substantial project to transform the feel of a piece.
Every piece is different, every home is unique. We’ll start with a consultation to discuss the piece of furniture, the work required and the kind of look you are trying to create.
I will guide you through the choice of fabric and make a recommendation. Together we will consider the style of your home, where the piece will sit, colour, texture and durability to determine the perfect fabric, whatever your taste in design.
Before undertaking any work, I will recommend the most appropriate restoration technique, whether traditional or modern, determine the amount of fabric required and provide a clear estimate of the cost.
I work with a wide range of suppliers and independent designers, offering a selection of beautiful textiles and a range of prices.
I originally trained in Graphics, Arts and Textiles and have always had a drive to create and to keep learning.
For as long as I can remember, I have adored furniture design and everything interiors and this lead me to re-train as an upholsterer with the AMUSF (Association of Master Upholsterers & Soft Furnishers) at London Metropolitan University and the Margaret Loughran School of Soft Furnishing.
Self-confessed chair addict... I love them.
Upholstery allows me to use my technical skills but also to indulge my creative side. I am meticulous when it comes to detail, have a good understanding of colour, and as a tailor’s daughter, the technical knowledge of fabrics and sewing is hereditary!
I enjoy every process and the challenge each project brings. It’s incredibly rewarding to help my customers create something so unique and so loved.
My workshop is based in Twickenham, Richmond upon Thames. I accept commissions from London and nationwide. For any queries, please get in contact.
